Beach Hair and Beauty in Cleethorpes is offering an exciting opportunity to join our 9 month Hairdressing Skills Experience Programme, combining professional salon experience with industry-recognised training.
You'll spend up to three days each week training alongside experienced stylists in the salon, learning how a successful business operates while developing the practical skills and confidence needed for a career in hairdressing. The remainder of your week will be spent completing your qualification with Avant Hair Academy.
By the end of the programme, you'll have the skills to confidently manage a basic client column and be ready to take the next step into employment or an apprenticeship.
If you show enthusiasm, commitment, initiative and a genuine passion for hairdressing, we'll actively promote you to our network of salon partners for future apprenticeship opportunities.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and eager to build a career within the hairdressing industry.
Throughout the programme you will:
- Train alongside experienced salon professionals in a busy working salon
- Welcome clients and provide excellent customer service
- Carry out reception duties including answering the telephone and booking appointments
- Shampoo and condition clients' hair
- Observe and develop cutting, styling and finishing techniques
- Learn about colouring services and salon procedures
- Assist stylists during client appointments
- Maintain high standards of salon cleanliness and presentation
- Develop confidence communicating with clients and colleagues
- Gain valuable experience of how a successful salon operates
- Build the practical skills required to confidently manage a basic client column by the end of the programme
During this 9-month programme, learners will work towards the Level 2 Certificate in Women's Hairdressing while gaining valuable industry experience in a professional salon.
The qualification includes the following units:
- Follow health and safety practice in the salon
- Working in the hair industry
- Cut hair using hairdressing techniques
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
- The art of dressing hair
- Client consultation for hair services
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon
- Salon reception duties
Alongside your qualification, you'll spend up to three days each week gaining hands-on experience in the salon, putting your learning into practice under the guidance of experienced professionals.
By the end of the programme you'll have the confidence, technical ability and workplace experience to begin building your own basic client column.
Although progression into an apprenticeship is not guaranteed, learners who demonstrate a positive attitude, excellent attendance, initiative and a genuine passion for hairdressing will be put forward for apprenticeship opportunities with salons within Avant Skills Academy's extensive employer network.
This programme provides an excellent foundation for progressing into a Hairdressing Apprenticeship and building a successful career within the industry.

No previous hairdressing experience is required.
GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above are beneficial but not essential. Every applicant will undertake an initial assessment to assess suitability. Support may be available where required.
