Team Leader Apprentices For Your Business

If your teams rely on supervisors and shift leaders to keep work moving, the way they lead decides how smoothly everything runs. You may be looking for someone to support this type of role, why not hire a team leader apprentice? Whether you want to hire someone new or you’ve seen potential in an existing employee and want to upskill your staff; this course is for you. Avant Skills Academy is a team leader apprenticeship training provider across Hull and Grimsby providing your apprentices with the skills and knowledge to excel in your business and help keep it running.

Why Hire A Team Leader Apprentice Through Avant

We make sure all apprentices have the support they need to succeed in the role they applied for. That includes communicating with you so you’re always in the loop of the progress that your apprentice is making. Here are some reasons why you should hire a team leader apprentice through Avant Skills Academy:

Train Future Talent

Apprentices learn in your business, using your platforms and following how you normally do things. You may need someone to run team briefings, plan rotas or keep an eye on targets that senior managers rely on. When you hire an apprentice they learn through hands-on experience by performing these tasks day-to-day. With us however, they will also be upskilling through our modules as we help them towards their EPA (end point assessment). The skills they learn during the classroom learning portion of the course is applied simultaneously to the job role they perform for you each and every day, meaning you’ll witness their leadership skills developing at an even quicker rate!

Fill Vacancies

If you’re constantly replacing entry-level supervisors or stepping in yourself to cover gaps, an apprenticeship is a great way to solve this. We advertise and recruit apprentices, and conduct our own interviews before sending them your way. You then make the hiring decision; and we help set up their induction so the apprentice is prepped and ready for their first day. A team leader apprenticeship lasts around 12-18 months, then you’ll get the opportunity to keep them onboard after they get their qualification.

Mould Your Employees

Apprentices don’t bring habits from previous management roles because they’ll be new to this level of responsibility. They learn your way from week one – how updates should be given, how issues are escalated, how rotas are approved, and what leadership actually looks like in your business. Since our classroom training runs alongside real work, good practice becomes routine. Resulting in a colleague who fits your standards and strengthens the team around them.

Benefits Of Team Leader Apprenticeships For Employers

Hiring through a team leader training provider like Avant, benefits you as the employer. Not only will you get to mould the apprentice to work the way that fits your company the best, but you will also receive a government incentive for bringing in an apprentice. Here are some more details on the benefits of taking on a team leader apprentice:

Drive Career Progression

Apprenticeships are a great way to encourage career progression. Not only can you use them to level up existing employees, but if you do hire a new apprentice, you’re setting them up with the skills and experience to progress further down the line. After completing the apprenticeship they will have the knowledge in your field to expand and excel in roles higher up. This means that you’re more likely to retain staff all because you supported them and gave them a foundation for success.

Positive Work Culture

People stay when they can see where they’re heading and feel supported along the way. Putting an existing staff member on a team leader apprenticeship makes that clear. They get proper leadership training, real world experience and a recognised qualification at the end. You will witness this progress first hand and at their performance reviews you can point to real improvements in communication and organisation. This sense of purpose and enthusiasm to do well is contagious within the workforce and you’ll see a positive impact.

Cost Effective

Apprenticeships help you control costs while building capability. Apprentice salaries are lower while they’re in training if they’re under 19 or are older but still in their first year. If you hire an apprentice under 18 you could receive a £1,000 support payment too! If your annual payroll is under £3 million the government pays for 95% of the apprenticeship costs so you only have to put forward 5%.
